He likes Ramen, She likes ice.

Sometimes dinner at our house is mildly amusing. Eric was eating Ramen noodles and he was trying to get the remaining noodles that were floating in the vast amount of broth. His mother suggested he use the slotted spoon to drain the noodles to make it easier to eat them. He drained some of the noodles and then used the spoon to make that most important insertion into the oral orifice. It may look like Jeanette is looking on in a amazement, but I think she is just sucking on a piece of ice.

Yes, she is just working over a piece of ice by masticating and manipulating it with her tongue.

Smoked

Like most things in my life, I have trouble thinking small to start. I jump in with both feet and hope things turn out well.

Saturday evening Jeanette and I hosted some of the people I work with for some smoked meat and pot luck.

The smoker was working all Friday afternoon delivering up some smoked chickens.

... 4 of them.

Jeanette was diligent in helping get things set up.

I am glad that only a portion of the people accepted the invitation to come. We would have been overwhelmed. Thank goodness for being an underachieved overachiever.

Fortune

Today Eric is gone to TSTC (Texas State Technical College) for a Boy Scouts of America merit badge college. They did not camp out last night, but left this morning to do the merit badges. Jeanette and I were left here home alone. I took a movie and relaxed. Jeanette suggested that I take her to lunch...Chinese.

Now I am ready for the world because I know the secret to success.

I ate too much but the food was OK. The company was great too.

This Easter Morn

Easter it appears is here to stay
With bunnies and baskets galore.
Then chocolate and grass and a whole bunch more
To entice us away from the Man.

The Man that we know is from Galilee.
Where he taught, and he healed, and he died.
The man we call Jesus, who came to redeem us
And rose on that first Easter morn.

I love the Good Shepherd of long, long ago.
Yes, Easter is here to stay.

Neko is missing

Last week sometime our cat, Neko, was banned from the house. She was behaving as if she wasn't litterbox trained. So outside she was now to stay. We have a screened in porch with food, water, shelter, and box for her. It has been this was for six plus years. She knows all about the porch and what is there for her.

Now that she was banned from the house I discovered that she preferred to be out of the porch more than before the ban. It was hours and hours before she would meow at the door to be let in from the big wide outdoors for some food and water.

She no longer comes to the door seeking food, water and shelter. It has been more than 24 hours since any of us have seen her.

We are wondering where she is and if she is.

Dresses

Surprise! A blog post from Jeanette

A few weeks ago I mentioned to Larry that I wanted a new dress for Easter. I told the story that I remember always having a new dress for Easter and Christmas when I was a little girl. He told me to go and do it. Even get two or three. I informed him that that many were not necessary. Buying a dress has been on my list for many, many days. I finally did it today. I disobeyed Larry. I got four new dresses. I suspect Larry will be firing up the camera to take photos of me in my new dresses. I'll try to look pretty.

I am excited to have something new. Most of my dresses I have had for about four years. Wearing a dress everyday for seminary takes a toll on them. There are at least two that are leaving the house for sure.

Well it was fun to go shopping. Thanks Larry. You are generous and loving
