Thankfulness

We should be thankful for what we have every day. This time of year brings to the forefront the idea that we should be thankful. With a holiday named expressly for the concept of giving thanks, it brings to mind for what we are thankful.

John 15: 13

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

I am thankful for many things. I am thankful for the greatest gift, that given in love to all mankind. Jesus made a supreme sacrifice for us all by coming to the Earth and subjecting himself to persecution, ridicule, and death. He also showed us the things that we should do by example. He was a great teacher.

Beyond His earthly ministry and his atonement for mankind, Jesus also worked for us before and after that great event.

Gospel of John
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Jesus the Christ was with the Father and fought for our rights as individuals to choose and grow. I am thankful for His advocacy on our behalf. He loves us and cares for us as we can see in the great effort He has expended in our behalf from the beginning.
Titus 1: 2
2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

When Jesus left this world He went to the Father, to be an advocate for us. His love is neverending.

I am thankful for our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.

  1. I too am thankful for his life and for being my friend. There is a touching song that is played on the radio by Mercy Me called "I can only imagine" It talks about meeting the Savior. I cry every time I hear it. I have such feelings of respect for the wonderful man who died for me. I have felt his love many times in my life and hope to see him on day on bended knee.

  2. Larry , I too feel the same way about my Savior. His atoning sacrifice was the greatest blessing to his children. How can we ever pay him for that great blessing, but to live our lives as well as we can and to love as he loves. Like Danette, I look forward in hope that I too, can kneel before him and feel good about it.

  3. I, too am grateful for the Savior and for the atonement. I know that without his atonement, I am nothing. I heard a lesson recently that the atonement can begin working at any time in our life. That is a comforting thought to me.
