Ike blew by

I was actually a little disappointed that Ike took a right turn at Houston and bypassed us completely. We did not even get enough rain to get our little drainage system in the back yard going.

Jeanette was to have a meeting in Temple that was canceled and I had a meeting in Killeen that was canceled. It appears that they could have happened. I has been nice to just stay home.

Our storm shelter has 3 feet of water in the bottom. The sump pump has not been working for some time. The electrical outlet for the pump is under water and the breaker is tripped.

I have been somewhat lazy this weekend. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Jeanette has not been feeling well. She has a runny nose and is complaining of a sore throat.

Debra has a job at Michaels. She is no longer employed at Tomatoes.

Eric still has two merit badges to get done.

  1. Thanks for your post. I was sitting to relax after an active day and was watching the weather. I was wondering our our family in Texas were holding out due to the storm! I am glad to hear you are safe, and wish the best of health to Jeanette, sounds like a fun place to work for Debra, and good luck to Eric. Continue to have a good relaxing day to Larry!

  2. Just like Gloria, I am grateful for your post. I will be able to sleep better knowing you are all ok. I spoke yesterday with some of my co-workers in Texas. They were all getting ready for Ike's visit.

It's a good thing you didn't have to use the storm shelter.

Sorry to hear that Jeanette is a bit under the weather. I have had a bug for the last week. Andi and her kids came to visit today and she has the same bug. The only consolation I have is that I know it didn't come from me.

  3. I have been so busy with a singles conference and wondered how you were with Ike, it is a relief to know that the storm passed you by. Your safety is important to me. Your storm shelter sounds dangerous to me, I am glad that you didn't need it. Thanks for the information. I love the blog.

  4. Looking at the maps for water conditions, our area is listed as dangerously dry.

Please feel free to comment. Be nice.
