Jeanette's and my first home

Jeanette and I decided to move into a little trailer in Orem just at the bottom of the hill just over the city limit from Provo. Jeanette and I were both in school. I was a Freshman and she a Junior. The trailer is the tan trailer in the center of the picture. The trailer was 10' by 40'. There were two bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room, and a kitchen. The queen size bed filled the larger of the two bedrooms. It was small.

Jeanette and I went to an event at Jeanette's parent's house. While we were there one of Jeanette's roommates asked her to borrow her keys. Jeanette gave Hazel her keys. Jeanette did not think anything of it. Hazel had a duplicate made of the key to our trailer. Hazel and some of the others from the student ward help with decorations of our new home.

Jeanette and I had moved most of our belongings into the trailer before we moved in together. Jeanette was excited about setting up her own home. She bought a case of toilet paper and groceries for the kitchen.

If you look at the cans in the cupboard you will notice that they do not have labels.

I really don't understand why this is a tradition with some people, but I too have done this on occasion. There were some things that we did not capture in these pictures. The bed was remade with the box springs on top of the mattress. There was rice in the heater ducting.

The bathroom was specially decorated too. The toilet had foot coloring in the tank.

For a long time we were using toilet paper that was salvaged from the decorations.

  1. I would have been so mad...and then cried.

We, too, lived in a single-wide trailer at BYU. It was in Wyview Park. It is now gone. Their destruction was long over-due.

  2. Some of the places where we lived are now gone. Jeanette informs me that I was mistaken in stating that all the places were gone.
