On December 15, 1979 Jeanette Cheshire and I went to the Salt Lake City temple and exchanged vows over the alter. I am glad that we chose to make that step in our lives. We have seven children in various stages of development. We now have 3 grandchildren.
Yesterday was an exasperating day for Jeanette. She gave me a phone call about 10AM and informed me that the power in the house was off, after which the line went dead. I called back home to make sure things were OK and Jeanette informed me that her phone battery had discharged.
I greeted Jeanette at the back door as I came home with 50 roses and handed them to her. I had plans of writing something for her, but the power was off. I think Jeanette did not have a good day as she sat in the dark and cold for most of the day.
In the evening we had family home evening around the gas fireplace. Candles were burning in the kitchen on the table. We had a short impromptu lesson by Debra on some things she is working on for her Young Women in Excellence award. She told us of some traits that were conveyed to her by a person she admires; patience and love.
We sang a couple songs, by memory, because we could not see books to read them. We then sat around the fireplace for the activity and related things to each other about experiences we have had around a campfire. Not too romantic, but we were together.
We went to bed early. Jeanette canceled seminary on my recommendation because we expected cold wet weather. Icy roads are not fun.
Not a glamorous evening, but it is where I want to be. I want to be here with Jeanette. I love you Jeanette and I am most pleased that you have decided to be with me.
Maybe we will have another 29 years together here in this life.

Nice words, Larry.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'll ever love a Vance picture as much as the last one on this post. It just has a lot of character.
Love the picture! Should be your Christmas card! LOL!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 29 years together. I'm sorry that it was such a trying day for Jeanetter. I hope that today was a better day for you.
ReplyDeleteI have lots of clients on the east coast that have been without power for several days now.
Awe, so sweet!! Congratulations on 29 years! Believe it or not, I remember when you were freshly married! :D
ReplyDeleteUncle Larry let my drive his El Comino! Or at least let me believe I was driving while Jeanette sat in the passenger seat and I sat on his lap! Fun times! :D
