Choirs

Most of our family is or has been involved in a choir of some sort. This even includes me.

Jeanette sang in Mormon Youth Choir when we were married. Jeanette's father sang in Mormon Tabernacle Choir for many years. Arlo was the lead in the school musical, The Music Man and he has written a couple songs. Craig sang in a primary choir at the Provo Tabernacle. Anita was in choir at school. Debra was in choir at school. Eric is in choir at school. Jeanette, Eric, Debra, and I recently have participated in the ward choir.

Ward choir was disbanded for the summer. It is time for us to decide if we want to continue participating in the ward choir as it convenes in two weeks.

I have sung in a few choirs in my life. I sang in stake conference as a youth. Jeanette and I have sung songs together in church. I have sung in men's choirs.

I struggle to keep on key and on note when I do not have somebody to prop me up. I generally know when it is right, but frequently do not know hot to make it right when it is not. I have heard of people carrying a tune in a bucket. I can carry a tune in a bucket, but I think that I am like the guy that sings to Liza. There is a hole in the bucket.

  2. I enjoyed singing in the ward choir as long as I had two strong bass voices on either side of me. I could follow quite well.

Since I had throat surgery, I struggle even to sing hymns in church. My throat is dry and I start coughing and can't get it stopped.

I love music, but I am not to good at making it any more.

  3. I love music too, but my singing leaves something to be desired. I sing in church and know that I may offend people who sit by me, but I am not singing to them. I try my best but I have a song in my heart and hope the Lord accepts my song of the heart.

For several years a group of my friends and I buy seasons tickets to a concert series. They always have a ballet, an opera, many special artists. I enjoy this very much. I don't sing well but I do love music. I have often wished that I had the talent to help my children sing and love music as much as I do.
